Gary Weingarden Joins Proof as Chief Privacy Officer

Proof, the leading identity authorization network, today announced that Gary Weingarden has been appointed as the company’s Chief Privacy Officer (CPO). Weingarden will lead Proof’s Global Privacy, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), and Identity Standards & Governance programs, ensuring the company’s growing platform maintains its high standards for privacy, resilience, and compliance.

Proof has been rapidly growing its trusted digital identity platform through collaborations with jurisdictions and industry leaders dealing with life’s most important transactions. The company recently announced its work with Visa to secure digital payments and transactions with identity, and a partnership with Lightspark, the fastest global payment network built on Bitcoin. Weingarden will work closely with legal, engineering, security, and product teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into every layer of the platform.

“Gary has been instrumental in establishing Proof as the most trusted platform for secure digital identity,” said Pat Kinsel, Founder and CEO of Proof. “His deep understanding of how identity is used in financial services and regulated environments makes him uniquely qualified to guide our next phase of growth. As we continue to expand, Gary’s leadership will ensure that trust, transparency, and data protection remain at the core of our network.”

Weingarden has spent more than 15 years building and leading privacy and security programs across the mortgage and fintech industries. He joined Proof in 2020 as Counsel and Data Protection Officer, where he led the company’s information security, privacy, IT, and fraud prevention efforts. He also served as the Privacy Officer for Tufts University for three years, was Senior Counsel at Rocket Mortgage, and previously served as Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel at Birmingham Bancorp Mortgage Corporation.

“I’m proud to rejoin Proof as Chief Privacy Officer at such a pivotal time for Proof and the broader digital identity ecosystem,” said Gary Weingarden. “The company’s momentum shows that privacy and interoperability can go hand in hand, and I’ve been a longtime supporter of Proof’s mission to build a future where verified identity can move as freely and securely as money does, while giving individuals and institutions complete confidence in how their data is protected and used.”

Weingarden holds multiple certifications in governance and risk, audit, artificial intelligence, security, privacy, and compliance, including CISSP-ISSMP, CCSP, CISM, CIPM, CIPT, CCEP, and CAPM. He is also a member of InfraGard and serves as an editor for the Global Blockchain Business Council’s International Journal of Blockchain Law (IJBL).
